Hard bop refers to a style of jazz that appeared in the early 1950’s, reached its peak in the late 60’s and then fused with other jazz and pop idioms. I’ll explore the various roots of this genre, the stellar musicians who crafted the sounds, and the legacy of excellent recordings.
